WALTHAM — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Police Chief Kevin O’Connell announced the arrest of Kaire Holman, 31, of Quincy, in the murder of 24-year-old Zharia Wilcox-Ellis of Waltham following a fatal shooting on August 2.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in a parking lot next to an apartment building on Second Avenue, where Wilcox-Ellis was found with a gunshot wound.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation led by local authorities and state police resulted in the recovery of ballistics evidence, including two projectiles from Wilcox-Ellis’ body, which matched a .380 firearm registered to Holman.

Holman is set to be arraigned at 2 p.m. today in Waltham District Court on the murder charge.

The case is being overseen by prosecutors Carrie Spiros and Robert Royce, with assistance from victim witness advocate Kristen Chamberlain.

This marks the second arrest related to Wilcox-Ellis’ death.

Melanie Williams, 30, of Waltham was previously charged with assault and battery in connection with an altercation involving the victim that happened before the shooting.
