EXETER — Authorities have detained a man in connection with the theft of two luxury cars, each worth over $76,000, from Foss Motors earlier this year.

Alberto Marbert, 33, with a last known address in Tewksbury, Mass., faces a felony charge of accomplice to theft by unauthorized taking for his purported involvement in the heist of a white 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and a red 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat from the dealership at 133 Portsmouth Ave.

The theft occurred during the early hours of Feb. 17, and the vehicles were later found in Boston, Mass.

Massachusetts State Police apprehended Marbert on Sept. 3 after he appeared at Middlesex Superior Court in Lowell, Mass., for a probation appointment.

With an outstanding felony warrant in New Hampshire, Marbert was identified as a Fugitive from Justice.

Despite his status and history of alleged criminal activity while on probation, Judge Hillman authorized his pretrial release, mandating Marbert to resolve the New Hampshire warrant by Oct. 2, 2024.

Exeter Police Chief Stephan Poulin expressed satisfaction with the arrest resulting from extensive interstate collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police and the Lowell Police Department.

However, Poulin is seeking clarity on the decision to release Marbert without requiring his return to New Hampshire for extradition.

The Exeter Police Department continues to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to contact them directly or to submit an anonymous tip to Seacoast Crime Stoppers at 603-431-1199 or through seacoastcrimestoppers.com.
