CHICOPEE — A routine traffic stop on Sept. 2 led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man after detectives discovered a loaded gun in his vehicle.
Chicopee Police Department detectives, while monitoring traffic near 733 Chicopee St., noticed a vehicle without an inspection sticker.
The registry check revealed that the car had been purchased and registered 18 days earlier, violating Massachusetts General Law which mandates an inspection within seven days of registration.
Upon stopping the car, detectives identified the driver as Brandon Reynolds.
A dispatch check informed the officers that Reynolds’ license was suspended.
Reynolds was subsequently arrested, and during a search of the vehicle before towing, detectives found a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun in the center console.
Reynolds, who did not possess a valid License to Carry a Firearm, was charged with failure to inspect a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a lights violation, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID.
