BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Mattapan Drug Control Unit arrested a man Tuesday evening on charges related to the intent to distribute crack cocaine.

At about 7 p.m., on Sept. 3, police conducting a drug investigation on River Street observed Leroy Samuels, 57, of Dorchester, operating a vehicle despite knowing he had no active driver’s license.

After Samuels parked at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Woodrow Avenue and exited his vehicle, officers approached and handcuffed him.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a digital scale with white powder residue, a glass container and a plastic bag containing crack cocaine, plus additional plastic baggies and drug packaging materials.

Samuels faces charges for possession with intent to distribute Class B substances and for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
