Shots fired in Ansonia lead to arrests in Bridgeport

ANSONIA — Police responded to reports of shots fired on Fourth Street near North Main Street at 4:07 p.m. Aug. 31, leading to the arrest of three individuals in Bridgeport.

Officers found a shell casing and an unspent round at the scene but no victims or property damage.

A suspect vehicle, identified as a grey Dodge Caliber, was located by Bridgeport police shortly after a statewide alert was issued.

Three occupants were arrested, and a handgun was recovered from the vehicle.

The suspects were identified as Claude Perry, 30, of Ansonia; Edward Rumley, 32, of Waterbury; and Chantel Carter, 38, of New Haven.

Ansonia Police Chief Williams praised the Bridgeport Police Department, specifically Officer Jancy Rodriguez and Sergeant Julio Diez, for their assistance in identifying the suspects and recovering evidence.

The investigation into the shots fired incident is ongoing, with further arrests anticipated.
