BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s South End District arrested a man on assault and battery charges Thursday afternoon after responding to a call about a person armed with a knife.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to 569 Boylston Street following a report of an individual wielding a knife.

Erick Pierre Louis, 26, of Roxbury, was identified by Boston Police Operations as the suspect, who was found with a knife visibly protruding from his pocket upon officer arrival.

The encounter escalated when Pierre Louis allegedly threatened a victim with the knife, demanding money he claimed was owed to him.

In his attempt to intimidate, Pierre Louis is accused of stabbing the rear tire of the victim’s moped, causing the handle of the knife to break and injuring himself in the process.

Pierre Louis was taken into custody, handcuffed, and observed to have a laceration on his finger.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury, after which he was booked.

Facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property, and assault and battery to collect a loan, Pierre Louis is scheduled to be arraigned at the Boston Municipal Court.
