Cranston man faces multiple charges after Pawtucket crash

PAWTUCKET — A Cranston man was arrested late last night following a motor vehicle crash on Route 95, facing a slew of charges including carrying a weapon while intoxicated and endangering a child.

At 9:19 p.m., Troopers took Alan S. Chhim, 22, into custody after an investigation into the crash.

Chhim, of 31 Villa Avenue, faces eight charges: two counts of carrying a pistol without a license or permit, two counts of carrying a weapon while intoxicated, driving to endanger resulting in physical injury, driving under the influence with a BAC between .08 and .10, driving under the influence with a child passenger under 13, and reckless driving, all first offenses.

Following the incident, Chhim was held at the State Police – Lincoln Woods Barracks and is awaiting morning arraignment.

In separate incidents earlier this morning, State Troopers arrested two other individuals during routine stops.

At 3:37 a.m., Andre Torres, 41, of Providence, was arrested on a domestic body attachment for failure to appear in court, and at 4:08 a.m., Geraldo Teixeira, 44, of East Providence, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Torres is currently held at the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center, while Teixeira was released with a summons after arraignment.
