Boston police arrest suspect in Jamaica Plain stabbing

BOSTON — A man was arrested late Sunday evening on charges of assault and battery after a stabbing incident in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood, according to Boston Police Department officials.

At about 9:42 p.m., on Sept. 1, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) and District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a call at 383 Centre Street, where they found an adult male victim with a stab wound.

The victim was quickly attended to by Boston EMS and transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, Boston Police Operations issued a description of the suspect and the vehicle involved in the incident.

Approximately 17 minutes later, at 9:59 p.m., officers from District E-18 spotted the vehicle near 1251 Hyde Park Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.

Alex Pena, 50, of Hyde Park, was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

Pena was handcuffed at the scene after officers determined his driver’s license had been suspended.

Pena is facing charges of Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.

He is expected to be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court.
