ORWELL — A tractor trailer collided with a tree on VT RT 22A on August 31, causing traffic disruptions that extended into the early morning hours.

The incident occurred at 7:09 p.m. when the operator, identified as 36-year-old Khetag Ulubiev of Chicago, Illinois, lost control of the vehicle after the contents of the trailer shifted.

The southbound Volvo VNL, a 2019 model, veered off the road and struck a tree, which resulted in moderate damage to the trailer.

Vermont State Police, along with the Orwell Volunteer Fire Department and Earls Towing, responded to the scene.

The southbound lane was blocked until approximately 1:30 a.m. while the trailer was removed from the roadway.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the operator was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The road conditions were dry and the weather was cloudy, which may have helped to prevent further incidents.

The Vermont State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.

Traffic has since returned to normal on VT RT 22A following the clearance of the scene.
