READING — A Billerica woman was arrested and faces multiple charges including operating under the influence and child endangerment after being stopped by Reading Police for failing to stop at a red light.

Megan Martin, 34, of Billerica, was arrested and charged with OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at a red light, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and three counts of child endangerment while operating under the influence.

On Aug. 25, at approximately 9 p.m., Reading Police officers observed a red Toyota Highlander traveling westbound on Salem Street entering the intersection by Main Street without stopping for the red light.

Officers stopped the Toyota on Lowell Street and identified the driver as Martin.

Police noted there were three children in the back seat during the stop.

A field sobriety test and subsequent investigation led officers to determine that Martin was operating under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .25, more than three times the legal limit.

The children were unharmed and later released into the care of a family member.

Officers also found several open containers of alcohol in Martin’s vehicle.

She was arrested without incident and arraigned in Woburn District Court on Aug. 26.
