RISP make arrest for disseminating indecent material to minor, another for cocaine possession

WOONSOCKET — A Rhode Island man was taken into custody early Friday morning on charges of electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.

Joaquin Gadson, 26, of Woonsocket, was arrested by members of the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at approximately 6:30 a.m.

After being processed at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks, Gadson was transported to Sixth District Court where he was arraigned by Judge Isherwood.

He was issued bail set at $2,500 with surety, which included conditions of limited internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.

Later the same day, at around 2 p.m., members of the HIDTA Task Force and Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested Raul Soto, 50, also from Woonsocket, on multiple drug and firearm-related charges.

The arrest was the result of a narcotics investigation.

Soto faces charges for possession of cocaine greater than 1 kg, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and possession of a firearm during a controlled substance violation, among others.

He was held without bail after being arraigned and transported to the ACI Intake Service Center pending his formal arraignment.

Additionally, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Elliott Rivera, a 46-year-old from Cranston, was arrested by members of the Special Victims Unit for failing to register as a sex offender.

This arrest followed an investigation by the Special Victims Unit and involved additional charges by the Providence Police Department.

Rivera was arraigned in 6th District Court and is being held without bail.
