Berwick police investigate suspicious death of New Hampshire man

BERWICK — Police are investigating the death of a New Hampshire man whose body was found on the side of a road in Berwick on Friday morning.

At 11:46 a.m., Berwick Police Department responded to reports of an unconscious male at 164 Rochester Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased man, identified as 26-year-old Kyle Lang of Rochester, New Hampshire, lying face down in a ditch.

The area was immediately closed off, with assistance from the Berwick Fire Department.

Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was contacted, and two Criminal Investigation Division (CID) detectives arrived at the scene.

A joint investigation was launched by Berwick PD and the Maine CID unit.

York Police Department conducted a drone flyover to map the scene.

Lang’s body was transported to the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy scheduled for 10 a.m. the following day.

Lang was last seen around 10 p.m. the previous night near Jordan Street and was believed to have been walking towards Rochester, NH.

After he was reported missing by family members earlier today, police obtained information about a vehicle potentially involved in the incident.

The vehicle was subsequently located in Rochester, NH, by Berwick officers and has been impounded by the New Hampshire State Police (NHSP).

Detective Reil of the Berwick Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation.
