PELHAM — Five juveniles were injured when their car crashed into a tree and burst into flames early Wednesday morning in Pelham, police said.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. at the intersection of Jericho Road and Currier Road.

Responding officers found a 2013 Volkswagen Golf engulfed in flames after striking a tree.

All five occupants, from Dracut and Lowell, Massachusetts, managed to exit the vehicle on their own.

One suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other four sustained minor injuries.

All were transported to a Massachusetts hospital.

Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, according to the Pelham Police Department.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including police departments from Dracut and Hudson, N.H., and fire departments from Hudson, Salem, Windham, and Methuen.

Authorities are asking witnesses to contact Officer Warren McQuaide at [email protected] or (603) 635-2411.
