BREWER — A Verona Island man was arrested Thursday after police found methamphetamine and an open alcohol container in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Merrill Muncey, 38, faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs, operating after revocation and failure to submit to arrest or detention, according to the Brewer Police Department.

Officer McFadden observed Muncey driving suspiciously on South Main Street around 11:30 p.m. When the vehicle pulled into a closed business, McFadden investigated and discovered Muncey’s driver’s license was revoked.

Police said Muncey resisted being detained when McFadden made contact.

Sgt. Caron and Cpl. Woodman responded to assist.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine and an open container of alcohol, police said.

Muncey was on probation for a 2018 manslaughter conviction related to a fatal OUI crash.

He was transported to Penobscot County Jail following his arrest.
