CONCORD — Attorney General John M. Formella and State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall announced an ongoing investigation into a series of tragic events that unfolded overnight and early this morning, involving the deaths of an adult female in Troy and an 8-year-old child, as well as an officer-involved shooting that left an adult male suspect dead.
The incident began at a residence in Troy, where authorities believe an adult male killed an adult female.
The male then traveled to the Piscataqua River Bridge on Interstate 95 at the Portsmouth state line with Kittery, Maine.
In the early hours, police engaged the suspect on the bridge, resulting in the male being fatally shot by law enforcement.
During the encounter, police discovered an 8-year-old child shot dead in the suspect’s vehicle.
The Maine Attorney General’s Office is now spearheading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, while the New Hampshire authorities are focusing on the initial homicide in Troy.
Officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat, although the I-95 Piscataqua River Bridge remains closed in both directions as the investigation continues.
Traffic has been rerouted to other local bridges, and motorists are encouraged to find alternative paths.
Further details about the incident will be shared as they become available, with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of the active investigation.
