Man arrested after alleged threats at Derby Line store

DERBY LINE — A Derby man faces multiple charges after allegedly threatening employees at the Irving gas station in Derby Line on Thursday.

Vermont State Police responded to reports of a disturbance at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Main Street. Troopers located Frederick Murphy, 38, on nearby Elm Street shortly after arriving on the scene.

During their investigation, police determined that Murphy had not only allegedly threatened store employees but was also in violation of an existing abuse prevention order.

Murphy was arrested and charged with criminal threatening, disorderly conduct, and violation of an abuse prevention order. He was subsequently processed at the Derby Barracks before being transported to Northern State Correctional Facility.
