WESTFIELD — Police have arrested a local man, Christopher Wert, following a successful execution of a search warrant that uncovered a trove of stolen goods linked to multiple larcenies, officials said Tuesday.
The Westfield Police Department, in collaboration with the Southwick Police Department, executed the search at 593 Southwick Rd. on Aug. 27.
During the operation, officers recovered items connected to four larcenies previously reported in Westfield, as well as stolen goods from two larcenies in Southwick and additional items from two unreported thefts in Westfield.
Wert, who resides at the address searched, was taken into custody on larceny charges related to the Westfield cases.
He was held overnight on $5,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment at Westfield District Court today.
Further charges from Southwick and Westfield are pending.
Authorities also seized a significant amount of other goods suspected to be stolen.
Over recent months, Wert allegedly targeted outdoor items, including lawn ornaments, patio furniture, and sports equipment, in both Westfield and Southwick.
The Westfield Police are urging residents who may have had such items stolen and have not yet reported the incidents to come forward.
