PUTNAM — A routine response to a shoplifting report escalated into a chase on Aug. 27 when Putnam Police officers recognized the suspect, Kayla Link, also known as Kayla Gould, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local business where they identified the 35-year-old suspect.

Shortly thereafter, they spotted Link driving a grey Hyundai Sonata at the intersection of Providence St. and Powhattan St. When an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Link collided with the police cruiser and fled the scene.

The pursuit continued onto I-395 northbound, prompting involvement from the Connecticut State Police, Massachusetts State Police, and surrounding law enforcement agencies.

However, the chase was called off due to concerns for public safety.

Massachusetts and Connecticut authorities are actively searching for the suspect vehicle, which bears unknown Connecticut registration plates.

Eric Pariseau, 31, identified as the passenger in the vehicle, is also sought on several active arrest warrants.

No injuries were reported, and the police cruiser sustained non-disabling damage.

Putnam Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Link or Pariseau to contact them at 860-928-6565 or visit www.putnampolice.com.
