ROCKLAND — A 42-year-old Rockland man was arrested last Wednesday on multiple charges related to a series of burglaries and thefts in the city.

Robert Kyle Grierson faces counts of felony theft, burglary and violation of conditions of release, according to the Rockland Police Department.

Grierson’s arrest is connected to investigations into two burglaries that occurred around June 30 and July 23, which involved property stolen from the Sail Power and Steam Museum in Rockland’s south end and power tools taken from a Jefferson Street job site.

Grierson remains in custody at Knox County Jail, with police indicating that probable cause exists for additional charges related to several other open cases.

These include thefts of power tools from a Foundation Place job site in May; equipment from a Masonic Street garage in August; power tools from a Rankin Street garage in August; and power tools from a trailer at the Rockland Transfer Station in August.

Police have identified Grierson as a person of interest in several other thefts.

While some stolen items have been recovered, many are still missing.

Detective Jordan Jandreau urges anyone with information to contact him at [email protected].

Amidst a 55% year-to-date increase in burglary/thefts compared to the previous year, the Rockland Police Department is initiating a project named “Connect and Protect” to strengthen community safety.

The program aims to foster communication between law enforcement and community members, providing education and personalized advice on improving security for homes and businesses.

Meetings with officers will be one-on-one, allowing for tailored discussions on safety enhancements and a chance for citizens to engage directly with the police.

The service is offered at no cost to Rockland residents.

Deputy Chief Alex Gaylor encourages those interested in “Connect and Protect” to reach out for more information or to schedule a meeting by contacting the Rockland Police Department at [email protected] or by calling 207-594-0313 Ext. 253.
