Poultney man arrested for aggravated assault following dispute

POULTNEY — Vermont State Police arrested a 66-year-old Poultney man on charges of aggravated assault after he discharged a firearm during a neighborly dispute on Aug. 19.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police-Rutland Barracks were called to a citizen dispute in Poultney at 1:51 p.m. Upon arrival, they contacted both parties involved, Kevin Flynn, the accused, and Richard Laird, a 53-year-old resident of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The investigation revealed that Flynn fired a weapon following a brief altercation with Laird over a property matter.

Flynn was taken into custody and processed at the Castleton Police Department.

He was later held without bail at Marble Valley Correctional Facility.

Flynn has been issued a citation to appear in court on a future date to face the charges.
