NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Police Department has determined that the threat reported earlier today at City Hill Middle School was not credible and there is no danger to the community.
Authorities received a call at about 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 28, alerting them to an individual allegedly armed and en route to the school.
Police, along with additional resources, quickly responded to secure the area and investigate the potential threat.
Following a thorough assessment, officials have confirmed the threat was unfounded.
Precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety and security of students and faculty at the school during the investigation.
Despite the all-clear, a heightened police presence will be maintained at City Hill Middle School throughout the remainder of the day as a safety measure.
The Naugatuck Police Department urges the community to refrain from calling the police dispatch for inquiries related to this incident to avoid overwhelming the communications center.
