BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s East Boston Drug Control Unit officers arrested two individuals on Tuesday evening for their involvement in drug-related activities following community complaints.

At about 6:15 p.m., on Aug. 27, officers from District A-7 observed suspicious behavior from a man, later identified as Edwin Vasquez, 36, of Chelsea, on 178 Border Street.

Vasquez was seen making brief phone calls and looking around the street before entering the back seat of a vehicle that had pulled up.

Following a short drive, Vasquez exited the vehicle, and police, suspecting a drug deal, stopped him and found crack cocaine in his pocket.

He was informed he would be summoned to court for possession of Class B substances.

Further surveillance led to a traffic stop at 375 Border Street, where officers detained Danielle Brabent, 40, of Saugus, and Vasquez.

A search resulted in the discovery of eighteen bags of crack cocaine and $734 on Vasquez.

Brabent was found in possession of three bags of crack cocaine, forty-one various prescription pills, and materials for drug packaging.

Both were arrested and charged with distribution of Class B, possession with intent to distribute Class B, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Brabent faces an additional charge for possession of Class E.

They are set to be arraigned in the East Boston District Court.
