Cromwell high school threat suspect referred to juvenile court

CROMWELL — The Cromwell Police Department responded to a threat made against Cromwell High School on Aug. 28, after a message was circulated via Snapchat.

Following an immediate investigation, a 16-year-old female from Middletown was identified as the one who issued the threat.

The juvenile has been referred to Juvenile Court on charges of Breach of Peace, Threatening in the first degree, and Harassment.

The police have determined that the juvenile did not have the means to carry out the threats.

Chief of Police Frederick Sifodaskalakis stated that the department takes any threat with the utmost seriousness, ensuring the security of the school’s students and faculty.

The department has confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
