SOUTHBRIDGE — Detectives from the Southbridge Police Department conducting surveillance in targeted areas arrested a man Saturday evening on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
At approximately 5:32 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle operated by Joel Acevedo, who was suspected of illegal drug distribution.
The search of Acevedo’s vehicle yielded about 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 2 grams of suspected fentanyl, both packaged for distribution.
Acevedo, 49, from Worcester, faces charges of possession with intent to distribute Class A fentanyl and Class B crack cocaine.
According to police, these charges are subsequent offenses as Acevedo has a prior conviction for drug distribution.
He was held on $5,000 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Dudley District Court.
