Connecticut K9 unit finds missing flood victim in Aspetuck River

FAIRFIELD — Connecticut State Police K9 units located a missing flood victim deceased on Thursday, August 22, at about 2:18 p.m. after being called in by the Fairfield Police Department.

The Fairfield Police began their investigation when a car was discovered submerged in the Aspetuck River following severe weather that struck the area last Sunday.

In response to the Fairfield P.D.’s request, multiple K9 teams from the Connecticut State Police – K9 Search Operations Group were dispatched to conduct a thorough search along the river.

TFC Kenney and his K9 partner, Chase, ultimately found the victim approximately 1.37 miles downstream from the initial location of the vehicle.

The discovery underscores the critical role that the Connecticut State Police K9 units play in search and recovery operations.
