Two drivers hospitalized after collision on US Route 7 in Weybridge

WEYBRIDGE — Two drivers sustained minor injuries in a collision at 1759 US Route 7 on Aug. 25 at 9:57 a.m.

Vermont State Police reported that Diane J. Barrows, 78, of Vergennes, was attempting a left turn into a driveway when her 2016 Chevrolet TRX was struck by a 2017 Volkswagen GTI traveling southbound, operated by Genavieve L. Twomey, 30, of Burlington.

The accident occurred on the shoulder of the southbound lane and resulted in substantial front-end damage to both vehicles.

Both Barrows and Twomey were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which occurred under clear weather conditions and on dry roads.

They were transported by Vergennes Rescue to Porter Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Vermont State Police.
