One arrested, two at large after crash on Merritt Parkway

WESTPORT — A collision on Merritt Parkway near the Clinton Avenue overpass led to a police chase and one arrest this afternoon, authorities said.

Connecticut State Police alerted the Westport Police Department about the incident around 1:50 p.m., after three individuals fled from a car involved in the accident, which was later identified as stolen.

Officers from both Westport and Norwalk, along with state troopers, canvassed the area to track down the suspects, resulting in a significant police presence on nearby streets.

One suspect was swiftly apprehended and has been handed over to the State Police.

The individual was also taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of injuries from the car crash.

Despite efforts by Westport’s K-9 and drone units, the other two suspects remain at large.

Authorities believe they have left the area.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
