Boston police investigate Dorchester homicide, victim identified

BOSTON — Police are investigating a homicide that occurred late Saturday night in Dorchester, where a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds.

At about 9:58 p.m. on Aug. 24, officers from District C-11 responded to reports of a shooting at 159 Washington Street.

Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Jashun Cooley of Roxbury suffering from gunshot injuries.

Cooley was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening wounds and was later pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

The department assures confidentiality for anyone providing information discreetly.
