Three-vehicle crash on Route 22A in Shoreham leaves two with serious injuries

SHOREHAM — A multi-vehicle collision on Vermont Route 22A near the Orwell-Shoreham Town Line resulted in two individuals sustaining serious injuries, officials said.

The crash, which involved two cars and a motorcycle, occurred at 1:36 p.m. on Aug. 24.

According to Vermont State Police, a Subaru Legacy driven by Yildiz Ferhat, 47, of Bomoseen, veered into the opposing lane and collided with the driver side of a Volkswagen Golf operated by 19-year-old Alexander Pulver from Rhinebeck, New York.

The impact caused Pulver’s vehicle to leave the roadway and come to rest in a ditch.

Ferhat’s Subaru continued in the wrong lane, subsequently striking a northbound Yamaha Tracer 900 motorcycle ridden by Timothy Duggan, 55, of Granville, New York.

Both Ferhat and Duggan were transported to UVM Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.

Ferhat was airlifted while Duggan was taken by ambulance.

Pulver, who was wearing a seat belt, and the passenger in the Volkswagen did not sustain injuries.

The roadway was closed for about 2.5 hours for investigation and cleanup.

The Addison County Sheriffs Department, Middlebury Rescue Squad, Shoreham First Response, Shoreham Fire Department, and Life Net of NY assisted at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
