ARLINGTON — A Shaftsbury man was arrested for driving under the influence after Vermont State Police received a tip from a concerned citizen about a potentially impaired driver on VT RT 7a.

At around 9 p.m. on Aug. 23, police were alerted to a 2021 Nissan Altima traveling from Shaftsbury toward Arlington.

The caller provided a vehicle description and license plate number, leading to a Be On Lookout (BOL) alert.

State troopers located the vehicle and conducted a stop in Arlington on VT RT 7a.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jose Perez of Shaftsbury, exhibited signs of impairment during interaction with the officers.

Perez underwent Field Sobriety Exercises, which further indicated intoxication.
