Motorcycle-car crash in Shelton sends one to trauma center

SHELTON — A major motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a car occurred late Friday night, leaving the motorcyclist severely injured, according to the Shelton Police Department.

Emergency responders from Companies 1 and 4 rushed to the intersection of Howe Ave and Kneen Street at 11:40 p.m. after receiving reports of the collision.

Upon arrival, they found the motorcycle on its side and the rider, who was semiconscious, lying on the ground.

Echo Hose Ambulance personnel, assisted by fire department members, provided emergency care to the injured motorcyclist before transporting the individual to a nearby trauma facility for further treatment.

The operator of the car involved in the accident did not sustain any injuries.

Assistant Chief Plavcan led the emergency response operation, which included Car 1, Squad 1, and Engine 42, with approximately 8 members on the scene.

The Shelton Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Further details regarding the condition of the motorcycle operator have not been released at this time.
