NEWBURY — A three-vehicle accident occurred on US Route 5 S at the intersection with Snake Rd on Aug. 23, resulting in moderate damage but no injuries, according to state police.
Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene at approximately 4:51 p.m. where they found that a 2019 Toyota Tundra, operated by Nathaniel Smith, 40, of Newbury, was halted on US Route 5 S attempting a left turn onto Snake Rd.
Behind Smith, Cole Stever, 28, of Fairlee, was stopped in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.
Samuel Pollard, 28, of Corinth, driving a 2020 Ford Ranger northbound, failed to notice the stopped vehicles and rear-ended Stever’s Silverado before swerving and colliding with the rear of Smith’s Tundra.
While Pollard’s Ranger sustained moderate front-end damage and was towed by Ward’s Garage, the other two vehicles were able to leave the scene independently.
Authorities confirmed that all involved parties were wearing seat belts except Stever and Smith, and no injuries were reported.
The Newbury Fire Department and Woodsville Ambulance provided assistance at the crash site.
