Rhode Island State Police make six arrests in Providence and Pawtucket

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police arrested six individuals over two days, charging them with various offenses following incidents in Providence and Pawtucket.

On Friday, August 23, at 9 a.m., troopers arrested Angel Maldonado, 37, of Providence, for simple assault after responding to a disturbance on Route 195 in Providence. Maldonado was processed and arraigned at Sixth Division District Court.

Later that day, at 11:45 a.m., Jonah Bason, 24, of North Providence, was taken into custody on a warrant for willful trespass following a motor vehicle stop on Virginia Lane. He was turned over to North Providence Police after being processed.

In the early hours of August 23, at 12:42 a.m., Dean Zigbuo, 41, of Pawtucket, was arrested for driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Broadway. Zigbuo was released to a responsible adult after his arraignment.

On Saturday, August 24, at 1:14 a.m., Michael Ortiz, 19, of Providence, was arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear on an embezzlement charge. He was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center after processing.

Just over 20 minutes later, at 1:38 a.m., troopers arrested Luis Penafiel Rojas, 29, of Fall River, Massachusetts, for driving under the influence during a stop on Hartford Avenue. Rojas was released to a responsible adult after arraignment.

Lastly, at 2:03 a.m., Bruno Mendes, 31, of Pawtucket, was arrested for driving under the influence and other charges following a traffic stop on Cedar Street. Mendes was held overnight pending arraignment as a bail violator.
