ALBANY — An 83-year-old Lowell man escaped with minor injuries Thursday after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Main Street, local authorities said.

Leopold Bilodeau was driving his 2024 Chevrolet Equinox when he failed to maintain his lane and veered off the road around 1:28 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The accident occurred near the intersection with New Street in clear weather and dry road conditions.

Bilodeau, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries.

The Albany Fire Department and Orleans EMS responded to the scene, where Bilodeau was treated and released without the need for hospitalization.

The impact left the Equinox with substantial front-end damage and it was declared totaled.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident and no additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
