Lyndonville man arrested for curfew violation, drug possession

LYNDONVILLE — On August 23, at approximately 4:17 p.m., the Lyndonville Police Department arrested Mack Varnum, 46, for allegedly violating his curfew conditions and possessing illegal drugs.

According to the police report, a call from a concerned citizen about a man in a truck on Mathewson Hill Road led to the encounter with Varnum, a Peacham resident.

Varnum was under a 24-hour curfew related to pending charges that include Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Domestic Assault – 1st Degree.

Upon responding to the scene, officers confirmed that Varnum was in breach of his curfew.

During the subsequent investigation, Varnum was found to be in possession of substances believed to be depressants, stimulants, or narcotic drugs.

Following his arrest, Varnum was taken to the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

He is being held on the authority of the court with bail set at $10,000 cash or surety.
