LEWISTON — Lewiston Police were called to McGraw Park at around 6:50 p.m. this evening following reports of gunfire during a community “Back to School” event.

According to authorities, witnesses at the park, which was filled with hundreds of attendees including many children, described a teenage male firing shots into the air and at the ground.

While a vehicle was hit by gunfire, there were no physical injuries reported from the shooting.

However, one woman was treated at the scene for an asthma attack triggered by the incident.

Approximately 14 minutes later, at 7:04 p.m., officers responded to another shots fired report near the intersection of Pine and Horton streets.

Witnesses suggested the shots might have been fired from a vehicle or by juveniles in the area, but no injuries or property damage were found.

The investigations into both incidents are ongoing, and the Lewiston Police Department has urged anyone with information to contact Detective Brian Rose at [email protected].
