Bernardston man arrested after traffic accident, found with firearm and drugs

BERNARDSTON — A routine response to a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 10 and Turners Falls Road led to the arrest of a Dublin, New Hampshire man on Friday.

At approximately 3:22 p.m., Bernardston Police Department Officer Chabot arrived on the scene to find no serious injuries from the accident.

However, the investigation took a turn when one of the drivers, a 42-year-old man, was discovered to be in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a class B drug.

The man was taken into custody and bail was set at $5,000.

He was transported to the Franklin County House of Corrections facing multiple charges, including operating with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to use care when stopping, starting, or turning, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a dangerous weapon, and possession of a class B drug.

The Bernardston Police Department reminds the public that all charges are based on probable cause and do not determine the individual’s guilt.
