North Haven man arrested for attempted package theft

NORTH HAVEN — Police arrested a Bronx man accused of trying to steal a package from a Corey Road residence on Aug. 22.

Heriberto Perez-Cabral, 26, was confronted by the homeowner as he attempted to take a package containing a new iPad, according to the North Haven Police Department.

Perez-Cabral fled the scene, leaving the item behind, and was seen entering a dark Honda with tinted windows parked nearby.

Officers located the vehicle on Clintonville Road and apprehended Perez-Cabral.

He was charged with criminal attempt to commit larceny in the fourth degree and issued a $2,500 bond.

Authorities noted an increase in similar crimes in the area and advised residents to be vigilant when ordering electronics, as suspects may be monitoring deliveries to steal packages upon arrival.
