North Haven man faces charges after 14-hour standoff with police

NORTH HAVEN — A man was arraigned in court yesterday after a nearly 14-hour standoff with North Haven police and South-Central SWAT personnel.

Robert Mazurek, 50, of North Haven, faces multiple charges including five counts of criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree, five counts of criminal attempt to commit assault on police/public safety, illegal discharge of a firearm, threatening first with a firearm, reckless endangerment first, and breach of peace second.

The incident, which began the previous day, concluded without any reported injuries, but the extensive duration and serious charges have drawn significant attention.

Mazurek is currently being held on a $5 million bond.

Authorities have stated that the case is ongoing and additional charges may be sought.
