New Bedford man arrested on drug, firearm charges after police raid

NEW BEDFORD — Narcotics detectives arrested a local man on drug and firearm charges following a search at a Cove Street residence.

On Friday, Aug. 16, Det. Matthew Couture concluded his investigation into a cocaine delivery service operating from 118 Cove St., apartment #2, with the execution of a search warrant.

The target of the investigation was 25-year-old Kolby McCoy.

During the search, McCoy was found in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine, a digital scale, packaging material, cutting agents, and over $7,000 in cash, which was seized due to the nature of the charges.

Additionally, McCoy had a Glock 9mm handgun loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition without a proper license.

McCoy was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition.

Authorities encourage anyone with information to provide it anonymously by calling 508-99-CRIME or submitting a tip on the New Bedford Police Department website.
