Nashua man arrested for car theft, kidnapping with children onboard

NASHUA — A homeless man out on bail was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing a car with two children inside, according to Nashua Police Department.

Andrew Colvin, 42, of no fixed address in Nashua, faces charges including two counts of kidnapping, a Class B felony, after patrol officers responded to a call on Danforth Drive.

The children’s mother reported that her vehicle had been stolen while her children were in the backseat.

Witnesses at the scene managed to stop the vehicle and remove Colvin, who then fled on foot.

The children were found unharmed following the incident.

A short time later, Colvin was located by officers and taken into custody.

Further investigation by detectives from the Special Investigation Division revealed that Colvin allegedly entered the idling vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot and drove away.

Colvin, who was previously out on bail for a prowling incident, now also faces charges of theft by unauthorized taking, a Class A felony, and driving after revocation or suspension, a violation.

Currently held on $1,000 cash bail, Colvin is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit – District Division – Nashua Court on Aug. 22 at 1 p.m.
