1 min read

MELROSE — Melrose Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred in the early hours of Aug. 18, with a suspect caught on camera using stolen credit cards later that day.

Police responded to multiple reports of break-ins of motor vehicles between 2:40 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. last Sunday.

Among the stolen items was a wallet, and the victim’s credit cards were subsequently used at a Burlington Coat Factory in Chelsea and a CVS in Revere.

Surveillance photos released by authorities show a suspect linked to both the vehicle break-ins and the fraudulent credit card use.

The individual is described as a dark-skinned male, wearing a green and yellow hooded jacket—possibly a Patagonia brand—along with dark pants, white shoes, a white-brimmed hat, and a face mask.

The Melrose Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect or the incidents to contact them at 781-665-1212.

Tips can also be directed to Detective Dan Riordan at 781-979-4473.

The police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending the person responsible for these crimes.
