SOUTHINGTON — Two teenagers from Bristol were arrested Monday night after a high-speed collision involving a stolen vehicle and a Mercedes SUV, according to the Southington Police Department.

Officers received a FLOCK alert at approximately 8:48 p.m. for a 2013 white Hyundai Elantra reported stolen from Bristol.

The vehicle was located pulled over on West Queen Street near Newell Street.

When police approached the vehicle, it sped off, striking a police car before running a red light at Queen and River streets and colliding with the SUV.

The collision resulted in significant damage and airbag deployment in both vehicles.

The Mercedes driver sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Police quickly secured the scene, and after refusing to exit the stolen vehicle, one suspect was arrested without further incident.

The second suspect fled on foot but was later found behind a business on Birch Drive with the help of a police drone and K-9 Tank.

The suspects, 17 and 16-year-old males, face multiple charges including vehicle theft, larceny, and assault on a public safety officer.

Both were detained and are scheduled to appear in New Britain Juvenile Court on Aug. 21.
