SANFORD — Sanford police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Tuesday on Bodwell Street.
At about 11 p.m., the Sanford Regional Communication Center received multiple calls reporting gunshots in the area.
Officers responded promptly and, although no victims or injuries were found, shell casings were discovered at the scene.
The Sanford Police Criminal Investigation Division is processing the scene and pursuing several leads to identify the shooter or shooters.
Residents of Bodwell, School, and Church Streets are urged to review any surveillance footage from around the time of the incident and to contact the Sanford Police CID at 324-3644 with any relevant information.
Authorities have indicated that this appears to be an isolated incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
