Plymouth child pronounced dead after drowning incident

PLYMOUTH — A young child was pronounced deceased after being found unresponsive in a pool on Magnolia Lane, police confirmed Tuesday evening.

The Plymouth Police Department responded to a call for a possible drowning in the Terryville section of town at approximately 12:04 p.m. Emergency services, including the Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Terryville Fire Department, arrived at the scene to find the male child victim.

Immediate lifesaving efforts were undertaken before the child was transported to Bristol Hospital.

Despite the efforts of all emergency services involved, the child was later pronounced dead.

The Plymouth Police Department extended its deepest condolences to the family and asked the public to respect their privacy.

As of the 6 p.m. update, the official cause of death has not been determined, pending the results of an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The Plymouth Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
