MANCHESTER — Police in Manchester arrested two individuals, including an 18-year-old man and a juvenile, after a ShotSpotter activation led officers to the scene of reported gunfire on August 20.
At around 8 p.m., authorities were dispatched to the vicinity of 275 Maple Street where witnesses at a soccer practice reported seeing a male discharge a firearm into the air before fleeing through the JFK Coliseum parking lot with several others.
Roddick Rodriguez Franco, 18, along with a juvenile, were apprehended by officers on Beech St. When an officer attempted a pat-down, Rodriguez Franco resisted and attempted to escape.
Following a brief pursuit, he was detained and a 9mm pistol was found in his possession.
Both Rodriguez Franco and the juvenile were charged with resisting arrest.
Police investigations revealed four additional juveniles’ involvement in the incident, which remains under active investigation.
Manchester Chief Allen Aldenberg emphasized the seriousness with which the department treats gun-related crimes, especially those involving youth.
Aldenberg urged parents to be proactive in engaging with their children to prevent gun violence and criminal conduct.
