BRIDGEPORT — A man in possession of an illegal firearm was intercepted by the Bridgeport Police Regional Task Force on Aug. 19, potentially averting a shooting incident.
Ruben Palmer, 46, was identified by authorities as the individual carrying the firearm in the area of Boston Avenue and Dover Street.
Intelligence indicated that Palmer was seeking retribution following a recent physical altercation.
Task force officers located Palmer’s vehicle on Remington Street.
During an investigative stop, Palmer discarded a firearm, breaking the passenger side window of his car.
The thrown weapon was a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, later identified as stolen.
In addition to the handgun, officers seized a realistic AR15 style airsoft rifle from Palmer’s vehicle.
As a convicted felon under a protective order, Palmer is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Palmer faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a dangerous weapon, weapons in a motor vehicle, violation of a protective order, and theft of a firearm.
His bond has been set at $115,000.
