BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a Dorchester man late Tuesday night on firearm and drug trafficking charges after a routine traffic stop.

At about 10:19 p.m., on Tuesday, August 20, officers on patrol noticed a vehicle driving without headlights on Seaver Street and Blue Hill Avenue.

They initiated a traffic stop using their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Antoiwane Hawkins-Davis, was engaged in conversation by the officers.

Upon further investigation, they requested Hawkins-Davis to exit the vehicle.

A pat frisk of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded firearm inside.

Further observation revealed a discarded plastic bag on the roadway, containing rock-like substances later identified as crack cocaine.

The firearm was a Smith and Wesson SD9 with a round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the magazine.

The plastic bag contained 102 individual bags of crack cocaine, weighing approximately 36 grams.

Hawkins-Davis was arrested and faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Second Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, Firearm with prior/violent Drug Crime, Firearm Possession in Commission of a Felony, Trafficking of Class B, and resisting arrest.

He is slated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
