BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s District A-1 unit arrested a 21-year-old man on charges of drug distribution and carrying a dangerous weapon in downtown on Tuesday night.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., police on patrol observed Jaden Mathieu of Boston and a group of individuals congregating on Summer Street near Chauncy Street.
Officers noted that Mathieu had a large folding knife clipped to the inside of his left pant pocket.
Upon stopping Mathieu, officers immediately seized the knife, handcuffed him, and explained the reason for the stop.
A subsequent pat frisk revealed an object believed to be crack cocaine.
The search continued, and officers found around $328 in cash and ten oxycodone tablets inside Mathieu’s fanny pack.
Mathieu now faces two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
