SOUTH WINDSOR — A local man was taken into custody by the South Windsor Police Department (SWPD) after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run accident and driving under the influence.

On Aug. 16 at 10:22 p.m., police arrested Cameron P. Armstrong, 29, of South Windsor, following reports of a collision on Avery Street and Pine Knob Drive where a black Dodge Ram struck a white Lexus ES and fled the scene.

Officers located the suspect vehicle in a driveway on Avery Street and identified Armstrong as the driver.

After being arrested for evading responsibility, Armstrong underwent the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, leading to an additional charge of Operating Under the Influence (OUI).

Armstrong was processed and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

He is due to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Sept. 9 at 9 a.m.
